The professions of Neurodiagnostic Technology and Neurology are guided and supported by many professional organizations including the following:

The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS)

The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society is dedicated to furthering the understanding of central and peripheral nervous system function in health and disease through education, research, and providing a forum for discussion and interaction.

ACNS is a professional organization in the United States for physicians, clinical neurophysiologists, and neurodiagnostic technologists. It is devoted to establishing and maintaining professional standards in clinical neurophysiology in the practice of neurology, psychiatry and neurosurgery.

ACNS Guidelines
Advancing technology has changed both the equipment and practices of electroencephalography. To maintain consistently high standards and accuracy the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society establishes technical requirements for Performing Clinical Electroencephalography. When you successfully complete the Institute’s program you will be educated in the theory and practice of established ACNS technical requirements.

The American Board of Registration Of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)

The American Board of Registration Of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists maintains and promotes world-wide technical and clinical standards for neurodiagnostic technologists and laboratories through certification and accreditation.

ABRET supervises and conducts the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists EEG examination. When you successfully complete the Neurodiagnostic Technology Institute’s program you will be prepared to take the ABRET examination to become a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.).

American Society of Electroencephalographic Technicians (ASET)
